Ip Address of IAMMETER

Hello, can you please tell me how to get the ip address of my Iammeter to set up home assistant?

It seems that I receive information from my meter now but I cannot connect on local anymore so I do not know where to find the ip d-address.

thank you very much

Hello, I already try this :

  1. After connected the meter to your home WiFi router, the iMeter's Wi-Fi access point signal (iMeter_xxxxxxxx) will be disappeared for security reason;
  2. You can find you iMeter in the network of your PC which is connected to the same home Wi-Fi network
  3. If you want to see the iMeter's signal (iMeter_xxxxxxxx), you can switch off your WiFi router or take the meter away to where there is no WiFi network coverage of your WiFi router.

but I cannot see my Iammeter...

what can I do please?

I just try with the laptop of my wife (windows) but same, I cannot find it..

I try to search with my Deco TP Link app, and I find a device : MiCO 192.168.x.x I try to enter this ip address into Home Assistant but not working...so not sure this is the right one...

1 what is the wifi-led status on the front panel?

Please give me a photo if possible.

2 you said the energy meter is uploading to IAMMETER correctly now, yes?

3 have you confirmed that your laptop is connected to the same WLAN with the energy meter?

4 Have the router limit the UDP broadcast? if it limits the UDP broadcast, you can not find the device by the method we listed in the manual.

Or if the router allocate some VLAN and your laptop and the energy meter belongs to different VLAN, you can also find the energy meter by the SSDP discovery (the method listed here https://www.iammeter.com/quickstart/wem3080t-quickstart#9-how-to-know-that-the-meter-already-connected-to-your-router)

Can you log in the router directly, if so ,please log in it and try to find the IP of the energy meter in the router `s web page directly.

hello and thank you for your support.

Hello, anyone to assist please ? Thank you

I tried this , but unsuccessful :

Hi:

I can see the picture, the problem is obvious now.
It can upload the data to IAMMETER-cloud , which means it connects to the router successfully and can access to the internet too.(The WiFi LED is on, which also means it connects to the router successfully).

Now, the question is how to find the local IP of the energy meter.

Please note, that after the energy meter connects to the router, the AP named iMeter_sn would disappear. when it loses connection with the router, it will appear again.

So if you have powered off the router but the WiFi LED still kept on after 1 minute(iMeter_sn did not appear) and the uploading is also continuous, that means the router you turned off is not the router that the device connected to.

In summary:
If the data of the energy meter is already uploaded to IAMMETER successfully, it means it has connected to the router successfully, if you want to discover the local IP of the energy meter ,please refer to the below options
1 ssdp discovery ,like this

https://www.iammeter.com/quickstart/wem3080t-quickstart#9-how-to-know-that-the-meter-already-connected-to-your-router

The premise of this method is the router allows udp broadcast and there is no extra security setting (such as VLAN ) in the router.

2 log in the router and find the IP of the energy meter directly.

If you can log in to the router, you must be able to find the IP of the device.

Hello and thank you for your answer.

I already check my routers ( I have 5 Mesh TPLink Deco towers).

Idea was to order 5 others Iameters to monitors our 6 guesthouses here in Thailand.

So the Meter I installed and that works ( informations pop up into application as you saw) should be linked to one of the 5 towers.

Anyway I checked all and no one shows any meters. The only one that shows a specific device is the one near the meter.

As I mentioned previously in my post the device is listed as :

MiCO

MAC address: 84-9D-C2..

Ip: 192.168.0.240

Then as I said I’m not sure it is the right one because if I enter this adress into Home Assistant it can’t connect.

What else can I do please ?

Thank you very much

By the way, about the router in switched off, I switched of all routers.

"MiCO

MAC address: 84-9D-C2..

Ip: 192.168.0.240"

Yes, this is the energy meter

Please try to visit HTTP://192.168.0.240 by the browser and check whether you can open the webpage of the device by this local IP.

If it is successful, that means the local connection is OK, then we can start to discuss the problem you met in the HA integration.

Otherwise, we need to troubleshoot the local connection first.

"By the way, about the router in switched off, I switched of all routers. "

Has the device still kept uploading when you switch off all of the routers? if the uploading is continuous at that time ,it must mean the router it is connected to is not turned off at that time.

Ok, so the good news is that we have the IP:-)

I try to connect with safari on HTTP://192.168.0.240, but answer is :

Cannot open the page because the connection to the server is impossible ( I translate from French)

Hi :-) so what else can we do now please? thank you

Hi:

1 you can view the energy meter (name mico) with the IP of HTTP://192.168.0.240, and the energy meter always keeps uploading, yes?

2 please try to ping the 192.168.0.240 from your laptop.(give me a snapshot)

3  please show me the IP of your laptop. (give me a snapshot)

It is obvious that there must be some limit on the connection between your laptop and the energy meter.
Have you allocated different VLANs in the router, or some similar setting? Such as some firewall settings in the router that do not allow the data switch in layer 2.
If the uploading of the energy meter is continuous now, this problem has nothing to do with the energy meter, but the onsite network setting.
Please try to consult the network administrator, if you are the administrator, please check the firewall settings.

hello :-)

so:

1- yes I can see it in my DECO M4 application (DECO is the name of TP LINK Home MESH wi-fi system.)

I use same for all my Automation equipment, works fine. Is it set up in Acces Point

see  snapshot

2- see snapshot: not reachable

3- see snapshot

the DECO main unit is connected to the main router by cat 6. here is the setting of the router. I try to disable the firewall, but nothing changed.

I try this, restart and try to ping ..same thing...unreachable

1 please let me know ,how do you find the IP of the device (.0.240), give me a snapshot of the page in router.

2 the energy meter kept uploading successfully all the time, even if the local IP was not accessible, yes?

There is an easy way to confirm this problem.

1 If you can power down all of the AP around ,the energy meter will lose connection with the router and  it will enter AP mode again , the AP name iMeter_sn will appear(the WiFi lED in the front pannel of the device will be off).

2 you can start a WiFi hotspot on your phone and let both the energy meter and your laptop connect to the new hotspot.

After this, try to ping the energy meter from the laptop to the energy meter and check whether it will be successfully.

This method replace the AP from the TPLINK to your phone .
If the local IP can be visit after the replacement ,it will means the limitation is caused by the TPLINK`s AP.

hi :-)

just to be sure I understand all process...

-  I turn off all AP around

- I wait for the meter wifi led to be off

- i start a wifi hotspot with met phone

- I need to use the Iammeter app on my iPhone to reconnect to new hotspot?

-  I also need to set up the new wifi SSID on 11.11.11.1 ?

Then I try to ping again

- I need to use the Iammeter app on my iPhone to reconnect to new hotspot?

If the AP iMeter_sn appears, please use a laptop to connect it(iMeter_sn) .

After the computer connects to it successfully, visit HTTP://11.11.11.1 from the browser of the computer and configure the wifi of the energy meter, let it connect to the hotspot of the phone

If the energy meter connects to the hotspot(phone AP) successfully, the WiFi LED will turn on again.

Then connect the computer also to the hotspot of the phone ,then the computer and energy meter will be in the same hotspot/WLAN (provided by the phone)

Then you can try to get the IP of the device from your phone and try to ping it from the computer.

-  I also need to set up the new wifi SSID on 11.11.11.1 ?

Yes, you need to configure both the computer and the energy meter to connect to the AP(hotspot) of your phone

hello, so here is what I have done:

1/ switch off the TP Link AX1500 router

2/ as a consequence all TP link DECO M4 are also not working

3/ set up wifi hotspot on my phone

4/ connect the laptop (windows) to the hotspot

5/ wait for the LED on meter to switch off (around 2 minutes maybe)

6/ search AP iMeter_sn appears

7/ nothing appear

8/ nothing on wifi list either

9/ note that Meter LED wifi is back

10/ cannot connect on 11.11.11.1

11/ i also try with my phone app, cannot find the meter wifi and seems that application still receive information, it was working.

we really try many things since 1 week......what else can we do?

see screenshot (nothing on laptop either on iPhone)

5/ wait for the LED on meter to switch off (around 2 minutes maybe)

Usually ,the WiFi LED will be off after it disconnected from the AP/router .

if the WiFi LED is still on, it means the device is still in STA mode (still connected to one AP/router), so the iMeter_sn will not appear either.

If the iMeter_sn does not appear, it can not do anything more

You do not need to do a lot of tests(e.g.: you do not need to try to find the device in the app when there is an obvious mistake, such as turning all of the AP/routers but the WiFi LED is still on and the uploading is also continuous), just confirm which is the AP/router that energy meter is connecting now(when you turn off all of the AP and router around).

hello,

The wifi LED was off after 1-2 minutes maybe  and LED came back after

just confirm which is the AP/router that energy meter is connecting now(when you turn off all of the AP and router around).

Had not router/ap ON as it was my phone that was set up a access point and all other ap/router were off. as you asked me.

..not sure to understand...

To recap, I just done as you said. I switch off my TP LINK AX1500 router and all my TPLINK DECO M4.

I had only my phone as access pointed my laptop to enter the set up mode but  I could not see the meter anywhere. Either on the laptop either on my phone Iammeter app.

so anyway , now it is connected again to the same AP on same IP address as it was before.

I really do not know what to do next....

hi again, so tried again.

The LED was off, then I enter password get message that it is connected but cannot see it where it is connected.

It start to be time consuming for me, my laptop (windows ) is an old model, and where I live we have a very low signal (3g) ...so it is very difficult. If have no other solution, I will stop there. I wanted something easy but it start to be too difficult for me now.

Sorry

again if have no other solution to make it work as all my other devices it is not possible for me.:-)

thanks
