I have integrated Iammeter with Openhab binding. I realize that the actual meter and its channels  shows total consumption and export since activation. Now that I know this, it is a slight inconvenience as I would like to know actual e.g. today only. 

Yes, I can simply store the accumulated amounts at a given time (midnight) and substract this from the accumulated amounts to to come to the actual number BUT it is an inconvenience. 

Probably it would be of more interest to have the actual (daily) number which relates to the actual numbers on the cloud graph.

Noone looks at total kWh cince activation....

In fact, the daily data of export/yield/import that is displayed on IAMMETER-cloud is also calculated by the "simple method" you described above.
