I’m planning to install a 2nd solar system.
To do so, I need to switch the grid connection from a 1F grid to a 3F grid.
My current 3F meter isn’t supporting net metering (i use it now for single phase + solar + load), so I’ll need the newer version.
So:
- 1x a new meter on my grid connection, for net metering
- 1x a new single phase to monitor solar system 1, which is a single phase system, e.g on phase 1.
- 1x the current (old version) 3F meter, to monitor solar sytem 2, which is also a single phase system, e.g. on phase 2. The other 2 channels, I’ll use to monitor 2 loads.
Will this enable me to see grid import/export, and both solar production, etc... same magnificent overview like I have it today ?
On top of that, the wifi network of all meters, will be different due to reception issues.
Will this work ?
Hi:
"How to monitor a 3F grid with two 1F meters"
Hi, it can not monitor the three-phase grid system with just two single-phase energy meters. It needs three single-phase meters.
But we do not recommend using three single-phase energy meters to monitor a three-phase grid system. it is more costly than using one 3 phase energy meter and has the synchronized problem.
According to your description, I think your arrangement is properly.
1 install a 3 phase energy meter that supports net metering mode on the grid side.
2 If your two single-phase solar systems are installed closely enough(within the ct cable range of one WEM3080T), you can use the old 3 phase energy meter to monitor both of them.
Just use two-phase of WEM3080T to monitor the two single-phase solar systems, the remaining phase can be also used to monitor load either.
In this way, you just need to buy a new WEM3080T(3 phase energy meter), no need to buy a WEM3080 (single-phase energy meter).
